A tall, athletically built girl looks up, standing tall but with her head cocked to the side, as if listening and deferring her judgement. Her most prominent feature, icy blue eyes peer out from a mass of hair, a straight-cut, but wild mane. Often tied back, she rarely takes time to care for it. Although not entirely unattractive, Ilina tries to hide in the background in her new setting, using her hair to hide her piercing eyes, and relying upon her rather standard features to help her hide her height. With just a bit of effort, she may be considered to be an attractive girl, not pretty certainly, but she is unwilling to put forth the effort. All of her energies are focused upon achieving her life's goals, travel and freedom.

Ilina is the daughter of a Keroonese trader. Living near the hold and the Beasthall for most of her life, she came to love the Smithcraft instead. Spending hours in the smithy of the Beasthold, she learned to fashion metal into intricate jewelry and other decorative items; she much preferred this frivolity to the functional hoof-shoes and other mundane items despite her abilities. Rather than send her to a crafthall, her father insisted that she help in the trading; and this is how she arrived at Ista Weyr. Although she has never previously considered becoming a dragonrider, in her experiences the riders of Ista are not only kind and welcoming to her (something slightly new for her), she wouldn't be opposed either! Freedom and the ability to travel and practice her craft are her most heartfelt desires.

Ilina is easy-going and introspective, although a tad judgmental at times. She cares about interactions with the people she meets, making a good and strong impression and hoping to learn something from the exchange. Her appearance, however, is her "club foot" as she COULD be an attractive, well put together girl, but chooses not to be. (Being a trader, and sneaking around to learn smithing techniques tends to distract her). Perhaps with a little bit of constant direction, she might blossom as she is young. She expects the most from herself, and projects this to those around her. Her capabilities are endless, particularly when she puts her mind to something (like learning from the Smithmaster without her father knowing), and she can be obstinate and stubborn. The freedoms of travel and lifestyle in the Weyr greatly appeal to her, and should she not impress, would appreciate staying on at Ista, and maybe picking up a new skill or training further as a Smithcrafter!
